New NINJAGO piece makes for a perfect LEGO Batman accessory
Anyone hoping to spruce up their Batman minifigures should look no further than some of the new LEGO NINJAGO sets, which include an accessory perfect for the Dark Knight.
Every new wave of NINJAGO sets is sure to introduce a lot of interesting new LEGO elements, including a large amount of minifigure parts. Our favorite colour-coded ninjas always need new weapons and outfits, and they always need a unique new wave of foes to battle. The Dragons Rising wave, released just a few days ago, marks the most significant changeup in the NINJAGO ‘core characters’ lineup since the theme's inception – so of course there are plenty of new parts to help the newbies stand out.
Arin, a self-taught ninja super-fan, is one of the new main characters, sporting yellow as his signature costume colour. Each main ninja in NINJAGO usually has a signature weapon (beyond the dual katanas that come standard these days), and Arin's is a brand-new mould for a grappling hook. This rubbery element is included in all four sets that feature Arin, and he's proudly swinging it around on the front box art of three of them.
The grappling hook, or part 6430279, is similar to part 88704, which is commonly used as a whip accessory for characters like Catwoman. Arin's new grappling hook is a perfect companion piece, since it works so well for Batman. The piece comes in black, and it's not too far of a stretch to see the hook shape at the top as similar to the shape of Batman's logo and many of his existing LEGO weapons and accessories. Batman's utility belt would never be complete without a grappling hook, and this might be one of the best LEGO versions yet, complete with lots of posability.
No matter which minifigure is holding the hook, it provides a lot of ways to spice up displays as well as enhance play. There's a short bar connection at the top that can plug into all sorts of models, and while the hooks themselves don't have any official LEGO connection points, they’re conveniently sized to fit comfortably around all sorts of different LEGO builds. The connection is sturdy enough to hold a minifigure in place, but loose enough for them to fly off if you’re swooshing around something they’re dangling from, which can be lots of fun.
It's not uncommon to see updated and/or upgraded versions of ninjas’ signature weapons as the NINJAGO theme continues to release new products, which is an exciting prospect. Fans of grappling hooks, whether it be for their LEGO Batman minifigures or just the love of the swing, might have a lot to look forward to in terms of LEGO grappling technology. Who knows where Arin's signature tool (it wouldn't be too effective of a weapon, if we’re being honest) might go in the future!
You can pick up this exciting new part in 71792 Sora's Transforming Mech Bike Racer, 71794 Lloyd and Arin's Ninja Team Mechs, 71797 Destiny's Bounty – race against time, and 71798 Nya and Arin's Baby Dragon Battle.
